LEADING AMERICAN JOCKEYS Fate has intervened in the race for the riding honors of the year. The sudden attack of appendicitis that incapacitated jockey Ivan Parke gave opportunity to jockey J. Wallace to cut down the big lead that Parke had secured during the winter months. Wallace is in second place now and gaining rapidly on the idle leader, who expects to return to the saddle during the Hawthorne meeting. Wallace rode nine winners last week and his total is now 93, while Parke has 117 winners to his credit. O. Clark with seven, F. Weiner and L. McDermott with six each were the other successful riders of last week. The standing cf the thirty leaders from January 1 to and including the racing of Saturday last follows: Jockey. Mts. 1st 2d. 3d.
