-f* ■— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Stellar Entry List for the Chicago Derby If the famous old American Derby and Washington Park were still in existence no more representative list of entries of the three -year-olds of 1924 could have been received for that famous old fixture than that named for the Chicago Derby, to be run at Hawthorne Saturday, July 12. The total nominations number fifty-nine and include all the best three-year-olds of the year in training. Black Gold, the triple Derby winner — the Kentucky, Louisiana and Ohio — will be a certain starter and the black whirlwind will have such notable opponents as Mad Play, Bracadale, Chilhowee, Alta-wood, Beau Butler, Modest, Digit, Nellie Morse, Mr. Mutt and others. The Rancocas Stable has named seven, but it is thought that Mad Play and Bracadale will be the representatives sent here. August Belmont has sent the entries of his two stars, Ordinance and Ladkin, and it may come to pass, depending on the condition of the colts, that one will be shipped to Chicago for the Derby. Then there is the great little Sarazen, which may be forward enough in training to return to the scene of his initial triumph on the turf and again repeat the form that enabled him to win ten straight races as a two-year-old. There are indeed a grand list of high-class three-year-olds eligible for the revival of the Chicago Derby and a wonderful race is in prospect for the big crowd that is certain to assemble at Hawthorne on that eventful afternoon Saturday, July 12.
