DANDYBRUSH IN FRONT Eeasily Accounts for Tuesdays Feature at Aurora. Meddling Mattie, Ann M. and Miss Mischief in Sensational Finish in Third Race. AURORA, 111., Sept 23. The Robert Bacon Cigar Purse, at one mile and a sixteenth, for three-year-olds and over, was the feature of todays card at the Fox "Valley Business Mens Racing Association track. Four sprinting dashes and one race at one mile and seventy yards made up the remainder of the program. The weather was ideal for racing and the track was lightning fast. There was another large crowd on hand a decided increase in :he attendance over that of yesterday. J. Magnus furnished the winner of the feature when his Dandybrush led from start to finish. He attracted considerable speculation and was a top heavy favorite at post time with many of the layers refusing to take any action on him. Dorius was the one to be second a half length in front of Vir-.ginius which forced the pace to the stretch turn. No time was lost at the start which was a good one, and Holloway sant his mount into the lead at once and rating him with excellent judgment led for the entire distance. It was a popular victory. Virginius was the one to show the most opposition, leading the others to the stretch turn where Dorius, showing big improvement on a track that was more to his liking, came from behind to beat him for second place. Yorick was beaten a head for the short end of the purse. Jockey C. Gross, whose riding here has been little short of sensational, was the one to pilot the first winner of the day when he scored in the opening race of the day, on Parnell Lad from the stable of B. A. Jones. Modesta was the one to finish second with Billy Welch third. The winner was installed a heavy favorite due to his good works in his morning trials. He won like a good colt never leaving the ultimate result in doubt SEQUEL BY SAFE MARGIX. The second race of the day, a three-quarters dash fell to J. J. Heddermans Sequel with Boot Black second and Miss Fortune third. After a brief delay at the barrier they were off to a perfect start. Boot Black was the one to show the way with Woodland Queen and Isaman leading the others that I were closely bunched. Boot Black was leading- turning for home, Isaman and Woodland Queen dropping back, Sequel and Miss Fortune moving up to second and third places respectively. In the run through the stretch Boot Black showed signs of tiring and he was an easy victim for the rush of Sequel, which was an easy winner by four lengths, Boot Blank getting second place by two lengths in front of Miss Fortune. The third race of the day brought about a beautiful finish with the first three horses finishing noses apart. Meddling Mattie being the winner after a long stretch drive, with E. E. Majors Ann M. the one to be second and Miss Mischief, the early pacemaker, third. Off in good order Miss Mischief rushed right out in the lead, Lady Choco and Pollymara following. Turning for home there was a great closing up of the field and they were pretty well bunched with the exception of Clever Seth which refused to extend himself on the hard track. It was a thrilling finish with the winner in doubt until the official placing was announced. THREE FOR MONTGOMERY. Montgomery scored his third win of the day when he was home first on J. Kolbes Heavy Artillery, Eelman was second with Little Ann third. After a brief delay they were off in good order and Jack Frost was the first to show out of the bunch with Heavy Artillery and Archie Alexander in closest pursuit. Eelman was in advance of the rear contingent. In the run up the backstretch Montgomery sent Heavy Artillery into a good lead with Jack Frost and Archie Alexander still maintaining their positions. They ran that way to the turn for home. Heavy Artillery was enjoying a two lengths lead and he stuck to his task to be winner by three-quarters of a length in front of Eelman which held Little Ann safe. Pending further investigation of the inconsistent running of the hcrse Dobson the further entries of S. W. Richards have been refused. The fifth race brought out the largest field cf the day, twelve in number, and starter Dean had his hands full with the contestants. It was Gormleys wonderful ride that landed the heavily supported favorite Arrow Head , home a winner by the: narrowest of margins. Faber was the one to be second and Louise Wagner, which has disappointed on several occasions, get third money.
