Epinards Owner Back in France PIERRE WE RTHEIMER PARIS, France, Oct. 30. Pierre Wertheimer, owner of Epinard, arrived here yesterday-after his visit to thz United States to see his crack colt compete in. a series of International Specials with the best of American thoroughbreds. "I would have given a lot to have won at least one race," M. Wertheimer said, "but Ive r,o kick coming. Everybody was pulling so hard for Epinard to win that I would have liked to have given the American public the satisfaction of cashing in once on my horse. "Its all in the game. I was treated royally by everyone and really got almost as big a reception as the prince of Wales. They are all good sports." M. Wertheimer said that jockey Haynes would continue riding for him and that. Gene Leigh would remain as his trainer. The fact that he put Kummer on Epinard at Laurel, he said, was no refhetion on Haynes handling of tho chestnut. "Epinard wiil land in Cherbourg," M. Wertheimer stated, "and go directly to my farm in pouthern France, to be retired to the stud there. He will never race again, although the breakdown at Laurel was not serious. He probably would be able to stand training for 1925."
