FOR WASHINGTON HANDICAP Fifteen Probable Starters for Laurels 5,000 Race, to Be Run Saturday. LAUREL, Md., Oct. 30. A list of eighty eligibles to the Washington Handicap has dwindled to fifteen probable starters for Saturdays outstanding feature of an excellent closing program. The Washington, a race at a mile and a quarter, for three-year- ! olds and over, will be decided as the fifth race on the twenty-third and final program of the association. The race carries an added value of 5,000 and is therefore one of the three richest of Americas stakes for three-year-olds and over. Only the Coffroth Handicap exceeds it in value. Sarazen is the high weight of the likely starters in the Washington. Mrs. W. K. Vanderbilts gelding is assigned 12G pounds. He carried that weignt in the Maryland Handicap and won by a heaed from Rustic j over the same route. He has won slightly more than 5,000 this year to date. If he wins the Washington, his earnings for the year will exceed 20,000, four times the price j Mrs. Vanderbilt paid for him to P. T. Chinn last year. With fifteen starters the Washington Handicap will be worth 7,450 to the winner. Rustic is likely to be second choice of the public in the Washington, although Hallucination has been whispered about so much that strong backing is certain to develop for the four-year-old Canadian-bred. Rustic is in light, having drawn 107 for his impost. Hallucination will be asked to carry 122. Rustics claim to notice lies in the race he ran against Sarazen last week in the Maryland Handicap, in which he nearly beat the Vanderbilt star. Hallucination is the best of Canadian-breds and a smashing good colt. My Own is an announced opponent of Sarazen. Others that are liable to start, with their weights, are! llorse. Wt. Ilorse. "Wt.
