CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 7. Mack Carncr, after an absence from the saddle of nearly a week, resumed riding Friday afternoon when he had several mounts. John J. Coughlin "Bathhouse John", who has been for over thirty years alderman of tho First Ward in Chicago, was among the visitors and took an active interest in the sport. Mr. Coughlin was at one time extensively interested in racing and owned among others the winners Alderman Morris, Queen Olivia, Jako S. Zimmerman, My Queen. First Ward, Cee Jay Jay and others. He was one of the first to give Tod Sloan an opportunity to ride and started him on his way to the success he later achieved.
