MEDDLING MATTIE, away fast and well ridden, raced close up from the start and, racing into the lead on the last turn, finished gamely and outstayed MISS ROSEDALE. The latter ran a good race and was in closest pursuit for the entire way. MADAM VENNIE raced forwardly and finished well. EVENTIDE set a fast early pace and raced prominently afterwards. THEO RED was away fast and, racing into the lead with a rush, held sway for the entire race, but had to be ridden hard near the end to outstay POINSETTIA. The latter was away poorly, but closed a big gap and finished fast. BRINKLEY was given a weak ride and, failing to extend himself fully, tired in the stretch. WILD LIFE was saved under restraint to the last turn and ridden wide there, but came fast through the last quarter and outstayed LUGS in a game finish. The latter ran a fine race and, taking the lead on the last turn, made a game finish. PEQUOT raced prominently all the way, but tired and just lasted to save third place. MISS MAZIE closed a big gap in the last quarter. MAYOR CARREL set a good pace to the last turn and tired. ESCARPOLETTE ran out on the backstretch and her rider lost a stirrup. SEA COURT tired.
