Won driving; second and third the Fame. NIZAM, fractious at the post, began fast from the outside and, setting a good pace, outgamed FERNANDOS. The latter began very slowly, but found an opening when leaving the back stretch and rushed through to a contending position in less than an eighth, but was tiring at the end. ROYAL QUEEN was in a jam from the beginning and, when she did get a clear course, her rider was of no assistance. MISS EDNA showed speed, but tired after closing a gap. AVon easily; second and third driving. AMACKASSIN took a long lead quickly and was under slight restraint ail the way. II. C. BASCH closed a big gap and finished with a rush. SPIREA made up ground on the inside and outgamed GOOD HOPE in the final drive. The latter ran well to the last eighth. NORAIN closed up much ground lu the final three-eighths. The latter began very slowly and had a rough race, but got through on the last turn and finished with a rush. COLONEL MATT showed surprising speed, but gave way when the winner challenged. QUINAM saved ground on all the turns. MARGARET AVHITE began fast, but soon tired. AESlER BELLS quit badly. SHASTA forced the others out on the last turn, finished with a rush and won going away. MOUNTAIN OAKS, always close up, was forced out on the last turn and tired in the final drive. ZIGZAG was rushed up on the outside, then suffered with others on the turn for home, but finished well. RUNLEG ran well and was gaining through the final quarter. DIOMED outpaced the others to the first turn and finished gamely, but waa no match for the Winner when challenged. MARY CONTRARY made up some ground in the last half mile and finished gamely. FRANK FOGARTY was interfered with when starting his rush and was in close quarters in the final eighth. APRICOT, beginning slowly, was rushed up on the outside on the back stretch, but tired in the final eighth. AVEDDING PRINCE showed none of his usual clash and ran indifferently throughout. BLARNEY STONE legan slowly, as usual, but closed a gap and finished fast in the middle of the track. TANGERINE saved ground on the turns and finished well. THE AVORLD set a fast pace, but began to tire rapidly after leading to the last eighth. MELACHRINO suffered from a slow start and being forced wide.
