Entries for the !Xev Years Handicap, at one mile and a sixteenth, with ,000 added, the feature of the openinpr day program at the Fair Grounds, close Christmas day. It is expected that all the best horses that are in training at both the local courses will be named for this valuable race, and the prospects are that a good field will contest for the rich prize. Racing secretary Joseph McLennan has prepared an excellent inaugural program for the first day of the winter meeting of the Business Mens Racing Association, which expected to be one of the greatest meetings ever held in the city. The usual custom of staging a two-year-old race for the first of the New Year is followed and the "babies will be asked to; go three-eighths. "With more and a better quality of youngsters available for the Fair Grounds rucing, much attention has already been centered in these juveniles and their first appearance will be Avatched with more than passing interest. The secondary attraction of the opening card is the "Winter Garden Purse, at one mile and seventy yards, for four-year-olds. A fine field is certain for this race and a corking good struggle should ensue. The many improvements at the Fair Grounds are being rushed to completion and the outlook appears favorable for everything being finished Avhen the gates are thrown open on Xew Years day.
