FIVE STRAIGHT WINS Nimrod Undefeated at Present Havana Meeting. Continues on His Successful Way in Accounting for Wednesdays Feature Race. 4 HAVANA, Cuba, Dec. 24. The three-year-old Nimrod. a son of Under Fire Adore, by Trap Rock, is making a strong bid for the title of 1924-25 champion of Oriental Park. Today he scored his fifth straight victory in as many starts since the meeting opened. He was one of the seven starters in the fourth race, a handicap for all ages at three-quarters of a mile, in which Little Smoke was first choice, Topango second, while Nimrod and Cuba Encanto were next in demand. It was the last mentioned pair that dominated the running throughout. Cuba Encanto set the pace to the stretch, then gave way to Nimrod, the latter drawing clear at the end. Little Smoke was eliminated when he stumbled and lost his rider in the back stretch. . STAR COURT DISArrOLNTS. The second race furnished an upset in the easy victory of Neptune and the defeat of the favorite. Follow Me. The winner never left the result in doubt for a moment, quickly taking the lead soon after the start and. opening a big lead, soon outdistanced his opponents and was six lengths in front of them when he crossed the winning lino. Follow Me valiantly tried to overtake the flying leader, but without success. Louise Wagners rape was below expectations, as she was figured to have a good chance to score in the contest. Another upset was the failure of Star Court to finish inside the money in the third race. Col. Pat, Hazel Dale and Haran leading him home in the order named. Hazel Dale was the early pacemaker and when she relinquished the lead Col. Pat assumed command, and held sway to the end. Star Court tired badly after racing close up for half the distance. News has reached here from Tijuana that Duke Montour, who raced Semper Stalwart here a few seasons back, had died at the Mexican course, also that Otto Rice, who raced Doctor D. here last year, had died at New Orleans. Rice held a contract on jockey W. Smith until he disposed of it to Padgett and Dougherty. CASTILLA MEETS INJURY. "While being exercised in one of the rigs adjacent to the race track, Castilla got tangled up with the long rope shank and fell injuring the hip. She will be on the shelf for some time. Jockey Peternel was given six days by the stewards for cutting across in front of the others with Eelman. W. Dondas received word from. Miami informing him of the death of H. B. Dalley. The latter was a native cf Washington, D. C, and raced a rather pretentious stable here five years ago, in which was included among others Trophy and Avon. Rodman Wanamaker. merchant prince of New York and Philadelphia, is coming to Havana on his new yacht. Nirvana. 115 feet long, and gasoline driven. He will arrive after the first of the year. Mr. Wanamaker will be a guest of the American colony. Several affairs in his honor will be arranged, including visits to the Oriental Park course, where he will be dined in the clubhouse.
