Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of Dec. 25, 1804 Sunday, no racing. There is a possibility that Steve LHomme-dieu will have a Email string in training next year. "I have a couple of yearlings at Louisville," said LHommedieu today. "One is the colt by Cesarion Fonsoletta and the other the filly by Woolsthorpe Espionage. If they show me anything in the spring, I will buy two or three others and turn the outfit over to a good trainer." Taking care of the continually arriving cars of horses is a problem at Essex Park, Hot Springs, Ark., at present. New barns arc in the course of construction, but the supply of stall room never gets ahead of the demand. Wednesday evening G. C. Baker arrived with fourteen horses, which had to be hft on the car until enough stalls could be completed for them the next morning. One crew of carpenters is building in sections a barn of 160 stalls. Another crew is putting up a barn of forty-eight stalls. Horsemen on arriving wonder why they cannot get in at the Oaklawn track, where nearly S00 stalls were completed some time ago. Shannon says he would have had 1,200 stalls ready at Essex Park by December 15 had he known horsemen would not be accommodated at the new track. It is fortunate that Little Roek is so handy, 1 as 200 horses are taken care of there.
