Racing secretary William H. Shelley has completed his program book and it is now in the hands of the horsemen. For the first days racing the big crowd that is certain to be present is assured of some high class sport with the Ashland Oaks the chief offering, while the Phoenix Hotel Handicap and William S. Barnes Memorial are supplementary attractions. The Ashland Oaks is for three-year-old fillies at one mile, with ,000 added and received thirty-four nominations. The field will likely include one or more representatives of the Idle Hour Stock Farm Stable, which include Blue Warbler, Buckwheat Cakes, Beauty Slave, Bargain Day and Beach Talk, in addition to such as Princess Adele, Cream Puff, Little Visitor, Bridesmaid, Bewitching, Edinburgh and others. There will be more than ordinary interest manifested in the running of the Tobacco Stakes, scheduled for decision on Thursday, April 30. This is the first two-year-old stake race of the Kentucky spring season and as it may introduce a number of prospective stars the public will give close attention to the probable starters. This stake has ,000 added and attracted one hundred and thirteen nominations. C1MDEX HANDICAP MAY *. Ever popular with patrons of Lexington racing, the Camden Handicap is the stake attraction for Saturday, May 2. There were thirty-six named for the Camden, Which is for three-year-olds and over, with ,000 added, at one mile and a sixteenth. In addi-I tion to first money the winner will receive [a beautiful loving cup presented by the Hon. J. N. Camden, in whose honor the race was named. Such stars as In Memoriam, Chaco- let. United Verde, Hopeless, Honor, Dudley, King Qoria II.. Cherokee, Revenge and Stan-j wix of the older division, while among the three-year-olds appear the name of Quatrain, Captain Hal, Kentucky Cardinal, Kit Kat and others. The Blue Grass Stakes, always considered as a Kentucky Derby trial, is the big fea-j ture of the closing day of the meeting. Wednesday, May l . For three-year-olds at one mile and an eighth, the Blue Grass Stake-, with ,000 added, has among its entries such prominent Kentucky Derby eli- gibles as Quatrain, Captain Hal, Kentucky Cardinal, King Nadi, Tilka. Kit Kat, Deem-! ing, Annihilator. Menifee, Almadel, Benedict Vow, Buttin In, Broadway Jones, Cream Puff, Reputation, Elsass, and a good field is assured for this fixture, which has been run annually since 1911. The entire program took for the ten days of the local meeting is up to the usual high standard of judge Shelley, whose work in this direetion is universally recognized as first class.
