CAPTAIN HAL NOT FOR SALE Louisville Sportsmen Decline Second Offer Made for H. H. Cotton, La Brae Stable Owner. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 9.— J. B. McKee, manager and trainer of the La Brae Stable of H. H. Cotton, wealthy real estate operator, made another effort to purchase Captain Hal for his employer but, like the first, it was unsuccessful. The owners of the colt, a group of Louisville tobacco men, refuse to part with him, declaring that no price would tempt them. The La Brae Stable already has a Derby candidate in Elector, and owner Cotton is anxious to secure another candidate with a better chance to win the big race. Mr. Cotton is expected in Louisville next Monday from Los Angeles and will remain over for the Derby. He will have a distinguished party as his guests including W. G. McAdoo and wife, Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Howard of Los Angeles and Admiral Cary T. Grayson and wife. Mr. Cotton already has a formidable stable in training at the Downs and is willing to spend big money to strengthen his establishment J. D. Mooney, who rode Black Gold in last years Derby, has signed a contract to ride for the Cotton stable and will have the mount on whatever the stable starts in the Derby. *
