Burke is making the boys engagements. W. Ixnir.sbery Rot in from Montreal with three head and jockey R. Ilolloway accompanied the stable. Workmen are busy erecting1 a new barn which, when completed, will provide stabling accommodation for fiftv head. It is expected that several horses of the better class will be shipped here in a few days. Jockey K. MeChMK was an arrival from Louisville and will ride for J. J. Greeley, who has five horses quartered at the course. General manager Trimble is in receipt of a telegram from John Lowe asking for stabling room for his string of fourteen. The two-yoar-old Foxy, which was fired at Columbus, was galloped this morning for the first time since the operation. Kntries for the stakes to be run at Hawthorne will close Saturday, June 6. The Chicago Handicap, for three-year-olds and up, which was carded as tomorrows feature, failed to fill and the Chicago Purse for two-year-olds was substituted. Seven baby racers are entered and a keen contest may be looked for.
