The opening dash, a race of one-half mile, ! witnessed the fast filly Slumber Song, which ■ ! was recently sold by the Mira Monte Stock j , j Farm to J. Gough. winning in hollow fashion j from Miss Ida Brown and Baggage King, i Although making her first appearance under .colors, there were many that knew that she j was fast and so much coin of the realm I I poured into the machines that she ruled a | top-heavy favorite. Col. Matt and Rungeorge were the sur-I prises in the second and fourth races re-j spectively when they dashed home winners, i each paying better than 15 to 1. White Light.-; only had to canter to take the fifth from Miss Liberty and The Lamb. :
