Keefe states that he has been authorized by a Miami sportsman to purchase a high clas? three-year-old to run in the Hawthorne Derby. W. S. Kyne. manager of the Utah Racng Association, was a visitor in quest of horses for the meeting which opens July 2 at Salt Lake City. Two hundred thousand dollars in purses will be distributed during the meeting which will likely be followed by a thirty day meeting at the Lagoon Jockey Club. Mr. Kyne contemplates leaving for the West in a few days. Jockey ft OBrien got in from New York and will ride for W. C. Weant. Jockey T. Price was also given permission to ply his vocation here. C. R. Miller arrived with three two-year-olds. Uncle Parks, Bob Spalding and Clarice R. Frank Farrar was another to arrive here with seven head. Kddie Jr. hit himself this morning while being exercised and his leg filled up so badly that he was excused from starting in the fifth race. Jockey K. Cianelloni, who suffered a bad fall yesterday, gamely resumed riding today although his face is badly bruised.
