MILLWICK IN TRIUMPH Ohio State Derby Winner Adds to His Laurels at Aurora. ♦ Defeats The Poet, Bonnie Omar and Other Good Ones in the Eialto Theatre Handicap. 4 AURORA. 111., June 10— Charles A. Mills gelding Millwick. winner of the Ohio State Derby, added to his laurels today when he defeated a good band in impressive style in the Rialto Theatre Handicap, feature race at Aurora. The Macadora Stables The Poet, raced into second place while L. T. Coopers Bonnie Omar defeated Topango by a short distance for the show portion of the purse. Jock*, y F. Chiaveta had the mount on the winner and he showed good judgment In restraining Millwick behind the fast early-pace set by Marionette and Topango. The latter pair, both fast sprinters, raced each other into defeat and, when the winner challenged In the stretch, they had little left and he had little difficulty taking a good lead, which he held to the end. The Poet was badly outrun in the early stages of the race, but finished with a rush to be second. Ronnie Omar raced wide at the streVh turn and kept bearing out until he finally finished next to the outside fence. He was racinir strongly however, and would have been hard to brat had Nop b -en able to keep him straight. Ball lee ur.s hftfOsI jockey J. Merimee when the barrier was released, but the boy was up instantly and tried in vain to catch his mount. Topango and Marionette both quit badly and were unplaced. Th~ attendance was excellent however, and the program was good, which the management put on for the patrons approval. GOLDEN ynderi;r impressively. Golden Wanderer, a good looking colt from the stable of J. W. Rean. the "Washington sportsman, was returned victorious in the I opener over a small band of two-year-olds. The colt showed fine speed from the beginning, succssfully resisted Jimmie Trinzs challenge approaching the finishing line and hold him safe to the end under a hand ride. | Jimmie Trinz was many lengths in advance of the remainder of the field, while Jimmie 1 Walker beat Marius by three lengths for i third place, Fmbrella. which finished last, I was ridden by an old time jockey "Hand i Riding" Stevens and it was his first mount i in several years. He]*-n G., ridden by S. TTebert, was winner of the second race, Charlnat was seconrl ."ml flood Mornine third. The winner took command soon after the start and h*dd the race safe to ihe end. Charlnat ran a good race and was gaining m the leader in the stretch. but at no time did he seriously threaten to take the leadership. Good Morning raced into third place when Nacomee tired. THE CHEETAH IX DRIVING FIXISH. The third race was for three-year-olds at one mile and seventy yards and served as the days secondary feature. It was won by T. Bennetts The Cheetah in a driving finish with L. T. Coopers Cup o* Tea. Scratch was third, four lengths back of the leaders. Senor, coupled wi h Cup o Tea as the Cooper entry, divided favoritism with the winner. When the start came Montgomery took Rlennerhassett to the front and he showed the way down the back stretch to the half mile post. Cup o Tea overhauled the leader] there and took command. The Cheetah also moved up. while Scratch was running last-Turning for home Scratch saved many lengths by hugging the rail, while The Cheetah came fast on the outside and, gradually wearing Cup o* Tea down, got up in the last stride to win. The Coe per filly held on with rare courage however, and fought it ganv lv for" first honors right to the finish. Scratch was easily third. Rlennerhassett qui badly after going three-quarters and finished far back. The field in the fifth race was rrduc. d to six starters when Trapnet and Eddie Jr. declined.
