MASON TOWLE TO THE FORE Wins Main Race at Huntington for Matt Jordan — Ladies Day Increases Attendance. HUMTIXGTOrf, W. Vii., April 7— Matt Jordan scored his first success during the present meeting when Mason Towle showed the way by a comfor;ab!e margin to the best field of the day at the Fair Grounds* this afternoon in the fifth race. At no stage of the race did he leave the result in doubt. Lizzie N. was always in closest pursuit of the winner, but at the end was hard pressed to save second place from Molinero. The latter ruled favorite but at no stage of the race could he improve third position. This being ladies day. the fair sex turned out in large numbers and the attendance was the largest of the week. At the close of the afternoon, rain threatened, but the track was in good shape. Miriam Wood had the speed of her opponents at all stages of the first race, but was closely pressed by Orphelin during the early-racing. At the end the winner drew clear. The riding of jockey C. K. Allen was a feature, he piloting three winners. His first success came when he guided Dumber Jack to victory in the second race in which his mount barely lasted to earn a neck victory from T. H. F.veritt. Chile anel Lotto provided a stirring struggle, until well in the stretch in the following race but in the closing stages, Allen succeeded in drawing clear with Chile. New Moon and Wine Jug were most prominent to the stretch in the fourth. When straightened out for the run home, Bonnie Lizzie seemed to have the most in reserve and wearing the leaders down, she outgamed New Moon in a mild drive. This marked Allens third consecutive winner. Condition books for the spring meeting, which opens at Beulah Park. Colnmbus, Ohio. April 17, for If days, were distributed among horsemen here today. The purses will range in value from 00 to ,000.
