H. P. WHITNEYS NOAH , *_ Makes Amends for Poor Showing in Carter Handicap. ♦ Comes Back to Annex the Jennings Handicap After Spirited Finish With Dress Parade. ♦ PIMIjrO, Md.. May 4.— Harry Payne u Whitneys Peter Pan sprinter. Noah, came back after his poor showing in the Carter Handicap at Jamaica a few days ago and beat ■ good field in this afternoons feature race :it Pimlieo. when he won the Jennings Handicap. ,000 added, at three-quarters. Noah was ridden by P. Walls, made all of his own pace and. in a driving finish, beat Dress Parade out a half length. Dress Parade was a well played favorite and was ridden by Coltilctti. He was away well and a keen factor from the start, saving ground all the way. The finish was a thrilling one, the first five passing the judges in a bunch. The imported gelding. Mothers Son, making his first start in America, showed a remarkable performance and is evidently a sprinter of BOOM class. Away last of his field and a trailer the first quarter. Mothers Son was ji taken to the outside and began wearing the m leaders down. He closed an immense gap and in the stretch run came from last place but one and, finishing with a great burst of speed, was beaten but a head for third money, or less than a length for the entire purse. The fractional time was fast, it being: :33, :4fi:*r,. 1:12%. The winners portion of tne stakes was ,890. asettes warm RACE. Casette, a four-year-old filly by Fayette - Casual that runs in the colors of the Virginia turfman. C. Van Bergen, showed a wonderful performance in the Baltimore Steeplechase when she beat the favorite Broom Wrack three lengths. Watkins lost his stirrup irons at the first jump and the saddle turned under the mare. He rode the remainder of the course bareback. At the twelfth fence Casette went to the leader with a rush and in the last quarter drew away. Infortunately the lead had dropped off at the last jump and when Watkins weighed in he was found short of weight and was disqualified. The change in placing made Broom Wrack first, Beauval second and Ooldrock third. The Maryland-owned Gumdrop from the -Hal Parr stable came back with another good performance this afternoon when he / duplicated his Havre de Crace performance by making a runaway of the second race. Beginning with the leaders, Oumdrop took the Whitney colt, Capricorn, and raced him;-off I his feet the first quarter and then drew ■ away into a commanding lead which he retained without effort to the end. Passing the judges. Oumdrop had a two lengths lead over The Heathen, which beat Capricorn a like distance for the place. Creen Blazes was an easy winner of the third race when she beat Modo by two lengths and a half. She was ridden by the . apprentice McConigle and was a well backed ■ favorite. Beginning with the rear division. ■ Oreen Blazes moved tip stoutly going to the . first turn and was lucky in getting clear. Atcdonigle tojk her to the outside on the , I back stretch and racing head and head with a Modo this pair trailed the pacemaker, Harry Carroll, until well around the far turn, where the latter quit. Oreen Blazes then took command and in the run through the home stretch shook off Modo to win going away at the end. True Boy. after meeting with much early interference, closed a big gap and finished strong. P1XOLA IN FKONT. B. T. Wilsons Pixola was winner of the claiming handicap, which was run as the fourth nice. Bidden by Munden in a patient manner, Pixola. a follower in the early stages, gradually improved her positioti and at no time during the entire way did she leave the inside rail. Slipping through on the inside entering the home stretch, Pixola dashed to the front and in the final eighth drew away to win at the end iff a length and a quarter from Opperman, which he.it Jay met by a length and a half for second place. I-Vysun. which ran coupled with Opperman. started out to make a runaway of the race. He dashed into a long lead rounding the turn into the back stretch and held command until well around the far turn, when he began to tire. In the stretch run he collapsed and finished last Kathleen Crosby made a runaway affair of the sixth race and won under wraps at the end by half a dozen lengths. Fields had the mount, and when the start came he rushed his mount to the front. After opening up an easy lead rounding the first turn, he took Kathleen Crosby in hand and for the remainder of the race she was under restraint. Munden made a desperate effort with Lady Bountiful rounding the far tuf-n I where she closed some ground only to tire badly in the stretch run. Cray Cables was . third, beaten five lengths for the place. Claudius bled and was pulled up.
