Dick Welles* Selections At Lexington BOYS BELIEVE ME— PYX— COLONEL SCHOOLER. BOYS BELIEVE ME folded up like a tent in his last start and finished absolutely last after being in a contending position while racing through the stretch. Judging from that performance, he was not quite up to a race and wo are inclined to believe that he needed that outing to put him on edge. Today will tell and wc are selecting him to cop this number. PYX will be making his first start of the year in this race and, if he lives up to advance notices, should be good enough for the place money. COLONEL SCHOOLER had difficulty in negotiating the muddy going in his last out. but should go better today, with promises for a fast track. J. X. CAMDEX ENTRY— REALTOR— LAUREL. The second race, which calls for two-year-old maidens, to contest over the four and one-half furlongs distance, looks like a set-up j for either one of the J. N. Camden starters, HYDROMEL and BUM DAXCE. The formers chances appear the better of the two, based on past races. REALTOR, from the Croissant barn, is well thought of by his connections, but has yet to show anything startling. He may come to life today and, if so, should be able to land the place money. LAUREL turned in one fair race at this meeting when she finished fourth, but only beaten a length and a half for the first money. A like effort here would find her close up at the finish. BLCE TORCH— STONEAGE— HAPPY TOP. BLUE TORCH looks especially good in the third race, a mile and a sixteenth gallop. His last out found him finishing second to Indianapolis. It was a most creditable performance and, if he would run as well today, think he would be the easiest winner on Uie card. STONEAGE showed improvement in his last race over a preceeding start, but he does not possess the speed of BLUE TORCH. However, he should be the one to take down the place money. HAPPY TOP is able to do much better than his last races indicated and may be the one to save the show. MENIFEE— PIGEON WING II.— MALCOLM B. JK. In the Au Rovoir Handicap we are picking MENIFEE to down the Croissant three-year-old, PIGEON WING II. True, the former was beaten in his last start, while Pigeon Wing II. has won his two starts here without much trouble. MENIFEE is known to possess a high flight of speed and, throwing out his last race, when he was beaten by Dark Phantom, he ought to beat the Croissant starter. MALCOLM B. JR., a Derby eligible, showed some improvement in his last out and may be the one to land in the three hole. BUBBLING OYER-fHAMP DE MARS-BOOT TO BOOT. The Blue Grass Stakes, to be run as the fifth, is Lexingtons Derby trial race, and it should go a long way towards solving the Derby problem of picking the winner. Brad-lev has named throe of his eligibles to start in BUBBLING OVER, BOOT TO BOOT and BARCOLO. The first two mentioned are the better of the three, and the former looks all over the winner at this writing. The company he meets here will be little better than that which he met in his first race here, with the possible exception of CHAMP DE MARS, from the Keene Bros. barn. His race Monday showed he is in trim, as evidenced by his easy win. We are compelled to give him the call for the place over BOOT TO BOOT on that showing. The latter raced second to his stablemate in his last race here, but was under somewhat of a drive. Of the others, BARCOLO looks the best, and much will depend on stable instructions as I to which of the two Bradley starters will be asked to set pace for BUBBLING OVER. A. B. BENSINGER— DOUBLE QUICK-KHALIFA. Milam uncovered a good one in A. B. BENSINGER last Monday, and on that showing we are picking him to beat some other speedy juveniles that will meet in the Nicholasville Purse, to be run as the sixth. It isnt so much that he won, but the manner in which he achieved his victory that leads us to believe that he may be a little better than the average. DOUBLE QUICK ; was winner in her last start and will b» the one to beat in the race. KHALIFA ■ would cause the winner plenty of trouble 1 were he to run the same kind of a race as he showed in his last start. LADY HARRIET " is reported fast and will bear watching in tho race. FRANKMAN— THE SPA— REGAL TOY. Its a bad lot that hooks up in the final race on the card, and may be anybodys race. However, FRANKMAN may hold a 1 slight edge if his recent works count for anything. He has been burning up the • track in the wee small hours, and were he to do as well against competition, think he could score here. THE SPA raced disappointingly in his last out but is able to do much better. Maybe is wasnt his day. We are looking at it in that manner and think he can race to the place here. REGAL TOl should be about ready for a winning performance, ■ and the worst we can see for r him is the show.
