UNFAVORABLE CONDITIONS Latonia Racing Held in the Rain and Over Muddy Track — Crowd SmalL LATONIA, Ky., June 11.— Todays T.:itonia racing was curried out under adverse conditions, heavy showers Immediately after the first race had heen run over a fast track, converting the running strip into one of mud. The coming of the rain was not in the natur of a surprise, as dark clouds were overhead throughout the early hours of the day and the blackness they took on about time for devotees to begin the trip to the track presaged just what became a reality a short time later. The cloudy sky held down the attendance, to the smallest of the meeting and the akfh wind that accompanied the rain made conditions most disagreeable for many who braved the elements. It swirled the rain through the grandstand and under the betting ring cover and continued such tactics for a goodly portion of the afternoon. The change iti the conditions of the track caused several withdrawals, the scratching of which took some of the class from the card. Buck race carried ,500. with sprinters meeting in the Dry Itfclge and Florence purses and two-years-olds for the Hyde Phrk, the best of the afternoon. William Hondas My Bra fared in one of the outstanding surprises of the meeting when she led the entire distance to garner top honors in the third without great effort. She was given a hustling ride by Lee "infield. At the finish Blue Sprite outstayed Iady Von for second place in a hard scuffle. HVIIK IAItK TO l.OVKI.Y MYNNKKS. The Hyde Park, a dash of five-eighths, fell to Lovely Manners from the stable of L. T. Cooper. Willie Carner permitted him to railhead and head with Foregone, the first quarter of a mile, but a little urging that followed resulted in her pulling away from Iter closest foe to take undisputed possession of the lead and dominate for the remainder of the test. After Foregone retired. Canaan moved up in the last quarter and slowly wore down Comrade to take second place. The opening race was decided over a fast track, and this proved to the fancy of Cobweb, which raced in close range of the leaders until the final quarter, during which he scampered away and won out with much to spare over Little Cook, with Trinket third. La Sabina. the betting choice, was ridden wide and weakly. Marion Elizabeth, coming with a terrific burst of speed and racing nicely in the stretch, was up to snatch victory by a head from Silver Wings, a first time starter, in the second race. Mary IJeverlv was third. Mayfair contributed a highly impressive effort when she raced over the three-quarters of the Dry Uidge Purse in 1:14. winning easily over Asinia, Count Spraek and three others that opposed her. The winner was much at home in the going. J. C. Milams three-year-old Prickly Heat showed a liking for muddy going by taking the final race in a runaway from Long-champs, with Loretta Crooks third. F. H. Smith, represented by Macbeth, claimed Prickly Heat for ,000. The three-year-old Malcolm P.. Jr.. ridden by Willie Carner. his third successful mount of the afternoon, toyed with Musician for the first half mile of the Florence Purse, then settled down to business and came away during the final quarter to register decisively over his early attendant. Musician raced into second place, a good margin in front of Christmas Morning, which raced in third place the full route. A-
