PRINCESS DOREENS CAREER Noted Mare to Be Retired to Stud at the End of Fall Racing Campaign. LATONIA. Ky.. June 21.— Trainer Kay Spence was at a loss to account for the poor showing of Princess Doreen in the Enquirer Handicap Saturday, in which race the mare was a prime favorite. The mare came out of the race all right, and trainer Spence stated that she would be given an opportunity to display her worth in the Independence Handicap, in which race lie believes she will redeem herself. Spence announced a few days ago that Princess Domes would be through with racing after this year, and that at the the end of the fall season she would lie sent to the Audley Farm to be bred to one of the best stallions owned by Montfort and H. 15. Jones. Princess 1 reen will retire with the reputation of having won more money than any other mare in the history of American racing. She already has earned over 40,-000. and is expected to increase this amount considerably before her last race is run.
