INTERNATIONAL RACE PLANS J. E. Widener Attempting to Draw Coronach and Madrigal With a 00,000 Belmont Special. By F. E. IXMJ8MBLL LOMtON. Fngland. June _." .— The Westchester Racing Association will offer a 00,-! 000 social event at Belmont Park in the ; fall, if 1 can persuade the owners of the French and Fnglish l»erl»y winners to send ! their horses to New York for the race." Joseph 1-:. Widener said in an exclusive interview in Paris. France. President Widener has already begun his efforts to persuade Lord Woolavington to send Coronach, the Fpsom Derby winner, to the Inited States for the race. He has also road- overtures to F. Alzaga Cnzue, the owner of Madrigal, which won the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly. At the present time, it appears quite possible that Madrigal might be sent to the United States for such a race, but the chances are heavily against Coronachs participation. Lord WoolaviiiKton, according to present in-, dications. is not at all inclined to consider the proposition seriously. Knglish owners and breeders generally disapproved of the sending of Papyrus to New .York for the race with EeY, and the result of that vntire appeared to justify their Stai.d Tiie fate of Kpinards American in-; vasion, boweW, has had no such effect on the attitude of Freii-h racing men. and ■ young lir/.ue. it is thought, will not turn a i deaf ear t the proposition. The participa-I tion of Madrigal in such a race would give ijtn additional foreign flavor to the occasion, tk8 the colt is a French -bred, owned by a active of the Argentine.
