♦ t Sweeps Selections At Bowie One Best Bet — BODY GUARD — In the Third Race. The Midway Claiming Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and seventy yards, tops the Thursday card at Bowie. This contest has a value of ,400 and Golden Billows will carrp top weight of 116 pounds. This daughter of Golden Maxim has finished in the money in her 3ast eighteen starts and is one of the most consistent platers in training today. War Man, which chased Golden Billows home on opening day here, and Rejuvenation, which has not been out since the local meeting last November, are next in line under imposts of 109 pounds. The Prospect Purse, for three-year-olds, at five and a half furlongs, is the secondary attraction and La Morte, one of Bedwells Kentucky Derby eligibles, and Math, which scored his maiden victory here Tuesday, are the top weights of the party. The clear weather gives promise that the track will be in improved condition for todays racing. LITTLE BROOM— FIRE FAIRY— ASSE ■ma LTTLE BROOM, which finished in fifth place in his maiden effort, was beaten but five lengths for all of the money, in spite of the fact that he raced greenly and did not appear to favor the going. With prospects for a beter track, it is thought that the Garth colt will display marked improvement. He is a well-bred youngster and has shown speed in his trials. FIRE FAIRY has had the benefit of more racing than most of those entered and may be among the first three. She has been tiring in her races, however, and it is doubted if she can lead LITTLE BROOM home. ANNE MINOR, another of the good ones in the Jones — Faulconer string, has trained well and cannot be overlooked. She is rated on a par with Titter, which raced to an easy victory Tuesday. GAYLY— JUST IN FEN— FUO. GAYLY appeared a trifle short in his race back of Polly Scott Tuesday and faltered after taking the lead at the head of the stretch. With the course in better condition for the old son of Transvaal, he may hold his speed all the way and outfigures the others in this poor field. JUST IN FUN has not been out since her arrival from Miami, but has worked well and may finish in the picture. She is in light and, although inconsistent, has plenty of speed. FUO did not favor the heavy mud in his first start here, but will be dangerous with a return to a faster track. BODY GUARD— MYRA SL— HARYEY 8TEDMA5. BODY GUARD, which was scratched last week, is in fine fettle and appears to have a decided edge in this number. The old son of Golden Maxim can run in any kind of going and can carry the weight without much difficulty. He raced with success against the good sprinters at the New Orleans tracks and should prove the outstanding wager of the day. MYRA M., a mud runner of ability, is the one to fear. This filly defeated Wild Aser last out and gets four pounds off from that race. She has drawn the inside post position and is a fast starter. HARVEY STEDMAN. a good sprinter when right, raced well back of Tester in his only start here. He picks up four pounds over that contest, but should be among the first three at the finish. RED SPIDER— FETCHING— LA MORTE. RED SPIDER, in excellent condition at the present time, won his last race rather easily and is in under the same impost today. This fellow may not have the quality of LA MORTE, but he is fit and ready, while the Bedwell campaigner has not been out in two months. The son of Pennant and Cobwebs has pleny of early speed and should outrun his opponents from the rise of the barrier. FETCHING is not particularly game, but she has a high turn of speed and should take part of the money. The five and a half furlongs distance is right for her and the weight of 110 pounds is not excessive. LA MORTE did not impress the dockers with his work of five-eighths in 1 :08 and he will do well to finish better than third. MATH was graduated from the maiden ranks Tuesday, but met inferior horses and appears overmatched here. GOLDEN BILLOWS— WAR MAN— REJUVENATION. GOLDEN BILLOWS, winner of her last three straight races, picks up two pounds over her last triumph, but still looks the best. This mare has proved her ability to race over any kind of going and has held her own with the best of the platers. A good ride should see her home in front. WAR MAN disappointed when he was defeated by Dancing Fool and Canister the last time out, but this distance is more favorable to him and he should be well up all the way. He raced GOLDEN BILLOWS to a length on opening day and drops a pound from that effort, I while the latter picks up two. REJUVENATION raced well at the Maryland tracks last fall, but apparently needs a longer distance. Furthermore, he has not been to the races in many months. PARMACHENEE BELLS— JINGLE— 8TEINWAY. PARMACHENEE BELLE, barely beaten by First Edition earlier in the week, is in under the same weight tomorrow and meets cheaper horses. This mare is always dangerous in soft footing and the mile and seventy yards distance should favor her more than the longer routes of some of her recent efforts. JINGLE has a good turn of early foot and may set the pace part of the way. He should last long enough to finish in the picture. STEINWAY has been tiring in his recent races, but should improve against opponents of this caliber. SPUGS— ENSILE— JUST. SPUGS ran a good race over a heavy track last time out to finish a close third to First Edition. He was off last and, finishing in the deepest going on the inside, was wearing down the leaders at the end. With decent racing luck, he should show the way home to this field over the mile and a sixteenth distance. ENSILF/S race Tuesday, when she finished second to Frosty Boy, was a noteworthy performance and showed that the Transvaal filly is close to her best form. She figures to beat JUST for second money. The latter made her first appearance at the Bowie track Tuesday when she finished third to Polly Scott. She was off none too well but set out after the leaders and, racing into a contenting position in the first three-quarters, finished going fast.
