Control of Homewood Track The deal for control of Washington Park race track, at Washington Park, finally has been completed. A syndicate of sportsmen, represented by Col. Matt J. Winn, is now in possession of the necessary stock to enable it to exercise a directing control over the future destinies of the big plant. It is said that Robert M. Sweitzer would continue as president and that work will be started immediately at Washington Park, in order to have it ready for the meeting which is scheduled to open June 1, and continue for twenty-six days. It was further intimated that the re-organization plans of the Washington Park Association would first of all provide for the taking care of all obligations to horsemen that have not as yet been settled. With the necessary capital now available for the refurnishing and main-tainauce of Washington Park, on a scale in keeping with the importance of the undertaking with experienced racing men at the helm, there is every assurance that the Homewood track will play an important and successful part in local racing this year and in the future.
