BOOS IMPRESSIVE GALLOP t Works Mile and Eighth in 1 :53 %, Go__g Derby Route in 2 :08 y5. • Rolled Storking Another. Eligible to Go Full Distance — Other Candidates for Big Race Given Useful Gallops. ♦ LEXINGTON, Ky., April 25. — Boo. that small, yet well proportioned son of Black Toney, and Iwin, which won the Lou.siana Derby and other races for E. R. Bradleys Idle Hour Stock Farm Stable at New Orleans, the past winter retained his coveted place among the front rank Kentucky Derby eligibles by working one mile and one-eighth in 1 :53% handily, and pulling up the Derby route of one mile and one-quarter in 2:08Vi here this morning. It was a standout trial and the most impressive turned in by a candidate training for the Churchill Downs fixture over western tracks. Breaking with Benedict Vow, an older stable companion, the three-year-old outran his "pacemaker" from the first stride, completing the first quarter in :25%. the half-mile in :50%, three-quarters in 1:17, and mile in 1:41%. Benedict Vow completed the mile in 1:43%. Boo was not the slightest distressed after finishing the work and cooled out faultlessly. In view of his recent good trials he is considered a certain starter in the Derby for which he is being pointed. His work has well measured up to the expectations of his owner and trainer and has served to win him numerous admirers among the local colony. Boo was the second potential westerner to work the full Derby course over the local track, J. W. Parrishs Rolled Stocking having the distinction of being first to negotiate the long route. Rolled Stockings full Derby drill featured Sunday mornings workouts. This son of Pennant— Mary Belle was* ver the ground in 2:08%, going handily at tie finish after completing the first mile in 1:40% under a hard drive. He continued on to finish a mile and an eighth in 1:54%. Rolled Stocking worked alone for the first time this spring. In his previous trials, Bonaire or Percentage had accompanied him. Next best of Sundays activity among the Derby candidates was Ormans mile in 1 :43. This C. W. Riedinger hopeful was under mild driving as he completed the last of the mile. James Stewart, Birley M. C. and Thistle Boy were Derby horses given brief trials Sunday. The former "breezed" a half mile in :51% ; Birley M. C. worked three-eighths in :36% handily, and three-quarters in 1 IS, made up Thistle Boys easy trial. Monday morning brought another good Derby move, when the Cold Stream Farm Stables Ledge, a daughter of Friar Rock and Soria, traversed a mile in 1 :43%. She was unextended at every stage and finished the work with much in reserve. The fractional time was :23%, :48% and 1 :15%. It was a more pretentious workout than the time indicates and reflected this fillys present fine condition. Florida Gold, of the H. P. Headley stable, exhibited good speed in doing five-eighths in 1:01% and pulled up three-quarters in 1:16% this morning. Mirafel was given a slow three-quarters in 1:16%.
