LADIES DAY AT COLUMBUS Responsible for Goodly Attendance at Beulah Park — Good Sport Provided. COLUMBUS. Ohio, April 25.— There was no special feature down for decision at the Beulah Park track this afternoon but the majority of the fields were evenly balanced and productive of interesting finishes. The watering cart made its seasons debut on the track which was in excellent condition despite a wintry chill in the air. The fair sex took advantage of Ladies Day, swelling the attendance equally as large as the half holiday crowd of Saturday. In the initial dash, Woodcry. close up from the start, beat home a bulky band rather handily after Fort Bliss had led to the stretch. It was only in the closing strides that Acquitted got up to snatch second place from the veteran pacemaker which displayed marked improvement today. Racing with more moderate company than usual Finday never left the result in doubt after going the first quarter of the second dash. After working her way up next the inner rail during the stretch run. Naughty Xisha was up in the last few yards to earn a close verdict in the following race. It was only after a thrilling stretch struggle that Coquina got up in the closing strides to snatch victory from Cano. Sudan Grass outlasted the tiring pacemaker Little Bat for the short end of the purse. Cherebu followed closely the pace of Tip-pity Witchet and Taylor Hay until reaching the stretch turn, then moved up fast and won the sixth race with considerable to spare.
