Start good and slow. AVon driving: second and third the same. LA MORTE, racing in much improved form and away fast, raced into the lead with a rush and, holding it gamely, outfinished PRESIDENT after being headed briefly by CHAFF. PRESIDENT, also- away forwardly, was forced to race wide in the early running, but came with a rush through the stretch and was going faster than the winner at the end. CHAFF set the early pace and, after being headed, made a game finish. THE HUGUENOT ran a good race, but tired near the end. COLONEL SETII had no mishaps. Start good and slow. AVon easily; second and third driving. DIXIE SMITH raced far back under restraint for the first mile, then saved much ground on the last turu and. finishing fast, won going away. HAWK EYE moved up fast when called on, but bolted on the stretch tnrn and could never recover fully afterwards, but was best. KINSLEY ran a good rare and finished well. BULLETIN began fast and took a good lead in the first quarter and, setting a fast pace, came gamely in the stretch and outfinished RIVAL. The latter ran a good race and finished fast and gamely. SCOTLAND made up ground and finished with a rush. SANDY MAN was far back for a half mile, but saved much ground on the last turn and finished fast. ORESTES II. was given a weak ride and raced poorly. YEDDO was saved closest up for three-quarters, then passed CUDGELLER with ease when railed on and. taking the lead, held FLAGSTAFF safe through the final drive. FLAGSTAFF began slowly, but gained steadily through the stretch and finished fast. IRON MASK II. closed a big "gap in the last eighth. JACK ALEXANDER had no mishaps and tired in the stretch. CUDCELLER showed fino speed in pacemaking for three-quarters, then tired badly. DEVON was always outrun. ARABIAN was beaten off from soon after the start. HYDROMEL was saved close up for the first mile, then raced into the lead with a rush and, making the pace very fast for the distance, held the race safe all throngh the stretch. HANDY MANDY raced far back for the first mile, but came fast and gamely through the last quarter. BUDDY BAUER showed fine speed for the first mile, but began tiring in the stretch. DOLAN raced well and had no mishaps. AVUISKERY began tiring after going one and one-quarter miles and quit In the last eighth.
