The horse Alleghan came out of his race Thursday in an ailing condition and probably will be out of competition for some time. J. N. Camdens Calvados, eligible for the Kentucky Derby, but a doubtful starter in that stake, this morning figured in a useful and fast trial at a mile. He turned the distance in 1 :40%, driving. Fractional time was :24%, :49 and 1:15. Rejoice, E. Ruckers Oaks candidate, . exhibited high speed when she worked a quarter in :23%, three-eighths in :35, and a half mile in :47%, driving, this morning. The horses of Alfred Kane will not be raced at Churchill Downs. Trainer G. G. Moshier has arranged to send the stable direct to Latonia from here. Mose Shapoff shipped four head of Iiorses to Churchill Downs this morning. Three of them were the property of the Shapoff Stable, the other one was the property of M. Kallas. W. J. Marlman shipped three, the property of J. Dolan and C. R. Hood. Joe Hubbard will ship his horses to Douglas Park on Saturday. Sewell Combs will ship the twelve horses he is training to Louisville on Sunday. William Dondas will ship four, and Milton Reiser six on the same day. Joe Peters will ship Divot to Louisville on Sunday. Catherine C, which ran such a good race on Thursday, was named for Mrs. Catherine Connelly, the wife of jockey Danny Connelly. In her first race the filly did not run to her workouts, but showed that she was a juvenile of the first order. »
