ARLINGTONS CHAMPIONSHIP ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111.. June 16.— In commenting on the proposed American Thoroughbred Championship, to be run at Arlington Park, Saturday, September 1, president McLaughlin today said: "The American Thoroughbred Championship will have its initial presentation at a particularly propitious time. We are fortunate in having on the turf three-year-olds of the sparkling class of Reigh Count, a Chicago-owned horse : Toro, an eastern star, along with Vito, Victorian, and others that may electrify with their achievements. This event will be made more important annually in its intrinsic value, just as will all other stake and feature events at Arlington Park. Our plan may be summarized with the statement: Arlington Park is to be the wonder race track of this continent. "The cardinal thought in the American Thoroughbred Championship, is to ascertain which is the best horse in America, which can run fastest irrespective of age, including the greatest three-year-olds, and seasoned campaigners, such as Chicago, Flat Iron, Crystal Pennant ; in fact, every horse of speed and class now in training."
