GAINESWOOD passed BILL JOYCE in the first half mile, then raced into a long lead and won easing up. BETTY BROWNING also easily passed BILL JOYCE into second place and held it. POLAR SEA was in front for an instant right at the start, but fell to his knees, almost pitching his rider off, then raced gamely and closed an immense gap. CRISPIE SETII took the lead soon after the start and showed the most speed throughout, but barely lasted to win. IDEALIA soon raced into closest pursuit of the leader end forced the pace, but also tired and barely lasted to outfinish SHERIFF SETH. The latter came swiftly on the inside in the stretch and finished fastest of all. but in close quarters. ISABELLA was forced to race on the outside all the way and tired. CLAY PIGEON, lucky at the start, began fast and raced into a good lead and was never seriously threatened, always holding XAMA safe. KAMA, hard ridden, followed in closest pursuit and always held second place safe. OUKIEDA gained steadily, overhauled GRA 1 JOHNSTON and TRIPLETT and easily led the others to the finish. MY DESTINY wenied his wav up graduallv and closed a big gap GRACE JOHNSTON and TRIPLETT tired. HENRY BOMMKBS had miui the "worst of the start and was as good as left. Scratched— 20171 Broomoney. COVERLET raced away into a long lead in the first three-quarters, but was tiring fast in the Usl eighth and was oatfiaished. OBI EKE CEE raced on the outside, but could nerer reach the leaders. TEMITEIt was outpaced to the stretch, then closed a big gap on the inside and finished gamely. LUCKY DRIFT had no mishaps and raced well. SWEEP-NET was close up in the early stages and, after rating MARGIE K. and HIGH LIFE into defeat, took the lead, bat was not god enough for the winner. FIREDOG raced in close pursuit of LUCENT for the first half mile then, challenging the latter an eighth out, moved into the lead and easily held it to the end. GRASS MAID was on the outside most of the way, came fast in the stretch and headed LUCENT in "the last strides. LUCENT raced into the lead and set a good pace to the stretch, but tired when FIREDOG challenged. BLAH got through on the inside and gained a contending position on the back stretch, hut tired in the final quarter. BENEDICT VOW raced poorly after the first half mile. BREAST PLATE was as good as left at the post and was pulled up at the far turn when hopelessly out of it.
