McNAMEE raced in close pursuit of TONY RUIZ until leaving the back stretch, then raced into the lead on the outside and won with speed to spare. THE THIRD PIUNCE was cut off when he attempted to go through on the inside after passing the half-mile post, then came to the outside and finished gamely. CLOCK GOLF took the lead before reaching the stretch and was going away all through the final eighth. LITTLE BROOM showed the most early speed and finished gamely after being passed. TOMMY FOSTER, forced to be taken back on the far turn, was unable to get to the leaders. DEXTROSE raced well all the way and had no mishaps. A1TLE PIE was in close quarters in the first quarter. ELDER BLOSSOM, away slowly, came on the outside in the stretch and, responding gamely when called on, got up to win in the final stride. FRANK CROWLEY, close up from the start, passed BLANDRIS. but was unable to withstand the rush of the winner. BLANDRIS was much used in racing STYLISH MACK into defeat and tired in the last eighth. EA1KY MAIDEN, reserved back of the leaders, moved to the front with a rush after passing the quarter post and continued to draw away through the stretch, winning with speed in reserve. IRISH MARINE raced head and head with RHYME AND REASON on the back stretch, continued gamely, but was unable to stall off the winner. RHYME AND REASON, in the thick of it from the start, held on well and ran a good race. COGWHEEL made up ground. HEARTACHE quit while racing under restraint.
