Creech, whose horses have won most of the handicaps at this meeting, scored another success when Tanist bore his colors to victory in the Ak-Sar-Ben Plate, which was the best race on this afternoons program. Tanist, ridden by jockey Inzelone, was easily best on the. heavy track and, passing Bonnie Omar after half the distance, opened up a big lead, which he held to the end. Joy Ball, hard ridden from the start, finished second, and Rip Rap was third. The track was in bad condition and slow time was made in all races but, despite adverse conditions, a large Saturday crowd attended the races. Sky Flight won the first race in a driving finish from Biddy Shipp, with Pelaika third, while Jim Bethel earned a nose decision from Montello in the second race. The third and fourth races were won by Shasta Rock and Buck Garrett, respectively, both these horses being returned victorious by big margins.
