RACELANDS JULY 4 EVENT Thirty-Two Nominations for Independence Handicap, Opening Feature of Meeting. RACELAXD, Ky, June 2G — The Independence Handicap, a gallop of seven-eighths, for three-year-olds and upward, ,000 added, is to be the feature race for July 4, the opening day of the annual summer meeting at beautiful Raceland. This event closed with thirty-two nominations, the outstanding one of which is E. R Bradleys Buddy Bauer. Harry Payne Whitney has two eligibles and Mose Goldblatt, trainer of the Whitney horses, has two, they being the pair of six-year-olds Marconi and Sir Peter. Whitneys two are Sesqui and Color Sergeant, both sons of the good mare Pagent, by Delhi. Lucas B. Combs has nominated Broadside. Coldstream Stud Stable is represented by two daughters of Friar Rock, namely Hot Spot and Little Cyn. W. N. King, a native of Ashland, has named Acirema. Jack McPherson has in Fire On, Bill Cain has named Aviator, George Collins expects Shark to carry the Thistleton Farm colors, Bonivan is to sport the silks of A. A. Kaiser, made popular by Captain Hal, and Heine Cavanaugh is bringing Dr. F. A. Wehles Laurel Hall, prominent in the contest for the Raceland Derby last year. In all there are twenty-five owners represented in the nominations and the prospects are that it will be one of the best races ever seen here. The weights will be announced next Friday.
