Course In.ler Way — Only One Day of Sunsliiae Needed for last Track. — 1 — « CRETE, 111., June 28.— Despite cloudy and showery weather, there was plenty of activity at Lincoln Fields today. Quite a few horses arrived from Arlington Park. Most of the horses racing at Arlington will be transferred by van to the Crete track Sunday. Col. Matt J. Winn spent the greater part of the day at Lincoln Fields. He was accompanied by Maurice L. Galvin, a director of the American Turf Association ; Judge Charles V. Price, Judge C. W. Hay and Charles W. Bidwill, secretary of the Illinois Turf Association. The many improvements have been completed and the course presents a pretty picture. William EL Shelley, racing secretary at Lincoln Fields, left Latonia tonight. He will be on hand to take entries at the Crete track Saturday morning, while Arthur Blanchard will look after them at Arlington Park. Thomas Shelley, a member of the organization perfected by Colonel Winn at all of his tracks, was an arrival from Cincinnati. He is in charge of the "money room." Erwin Weidekamp, supervisor of the pari-mutuel department at Lincoln Fields as well as at Lexington, Churchill Downs and Latonia, also came in from the Covington course. Misstep, Leo J. Marks good three-year-old, which finished second in the Kentucky Derby, i:5 at Lincoln Fields. He is an intended starter in the ",000 added Lincoln Handicap to be run on July 7. Advices from trainer K.%" Spence of the Audley Farm Stable are to the effect that he will send a carload of horses to Lincoln Field! Saturday night. Terry OMalley will look after their training until after the Latonia meeting ends. Spence will bring the remainder of his outfit, including the good filly Easter Stockings, at that time. Despite the unprecedented rainfall of the past ten days in and about Chicago, the management of Lincoln Fields says only one day of clear skies and warm sunshine is necessary to have a fast track for opening day. *.
