DARK SIMON, showing good speed In the going, moved into a winning lead rounding the turn; waa shaken up entering the home stretch and drew out at will thereafter. CAMPFIRE MAID, in close attendance in the early 6tages, was no match for the winner when the final drive came. BROWN THISTLB finished gamely and outstayed DUC1SSA. The latter broke fast, was kept under urging, but tired near the finish. The others were outrun. Scratched— 365333Throw Back. 97. LAWLESS improved his position rapidly on the outside moing around the turn, ch. sed in rapid fashion, shock the leaders off inside the final eighth and had speed in reserve at the end. PI.EIXiH, hurried along throughout, wore SHREW down, hut was unable to withstand the winners rush. SHREW set a good pace, saved ground, but tire 1 fast in the lat quartc r. SKIRMISHER, quick to begin, raeed in close pursuit of HIGHLAND CAPTAIN, and contined with good courage when put to pressure and, finishing courageously, wore the latter down and held on gamely to the end. HIGHLAND CAPTAIN, showirg good speed, took a brief lead, saved ground a!l the way and came again near the end after being displaced. DUNKIRK began very slowly, worked his way up on the inside and. securing racing room, closed fast. ALACRITY took a good early lead, was rated along nntil reaching the stretch and was taken to the middle of the track, but tired under hard riding. FORECAST II. moved up fast on the turn, but was carried very wide into the stretch, but finished fast. SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS was outrun. CELANESE propped and was left.
