w t WASHINGTON PARK NOTES I # $ HOMEWOOD, 111.. June 7. If Judge Hay, racing in the colors of judge C. W. Hay, general manager of Washington Park, acquits himself with credit in Saturdays race he will be sent to the post in the American Derby. Judge Hay authorized this statement. The racing band of S. W. Kline, brought from Louisville, includes Master Samovar, Stephen B., Alexander, Selma Barbe, Benny M., Hannah K, Felix F., Wishing Bill, Sher-ley Wood and Theodore Rocherster, a winner. All are two-year-olds, trained by "Doc" Brandt. Master Samovar is rated as being one of promise. Following the running of the American Derby, Saturday, June 15, two stake features, each carrying an added value of 0.-000, will be decided at Washington Park. The Illinois Oaks, at a mile and an eighth, for three-year-old fillies, closed with sixty-two nominations, the best in training being named. The date for this race is Saturday, June 22. The Francis S. Peabody Memorial, at a mile and quarter, three-year-olds and upward competing, will be the topliner on the final day, Saturday, June 29. Ninety-five were entered in this race. B. B. Williams has shipped Lucile, winner of the Debutante Stakes at Washington Park, to Latonia to run Saturday in the Clipsetta Stakes on the occasion of its forty-seventh renewal. Lucile, racing for Stone and Rucker, is by Sweep — Nettie Hastings. She will be returned here following her performance in the Clipsetta. Johnson N. Camden, president of the American Turf Association, was an arrival at Washington Park. Lady Broadcast, chestnut idly, by Messenger — Couscous, will be brought from Kentucky by R. J. Gilmore to start in the Illinois Oaks.
