BEST FINISH OF MEETING Wee Toddler II. Takes Principal Race at Connaught Park By a Nose. OTTAWA, Ont., June 7. — Dominio-breds were called on to furnish the best attraction at Connaught Park for the third day of the meeting at the Aylmer course, when a field of eight gathered for contention in the test that was offered fourth on the program. The result brought about one of the best finishes witnessed at the meeting when three of the contestants came down to the finish of the three-quarters sprint so closely aligned that the official placing was held up a few seconds before the numbers were shown. The award went to Norman MacFarlanes Wee Toddler II., when in a gruelling stretch drive she just succeeded in poking her nose down at the last jump to receive the verdict over Alacrity, irom the J. E. Smallman stable, while just a head back was the odds-on favorite. Forecast II., from the Riverdale Stable. For the first time during the meeting at Connaught Park there was sunshine on the scene and, although the card was entirely devoid of a feature, a good crowd turned out. In the ordinary band that furnished the contention in the mile and one-sixteenth of the fifth race. Prairie Girl, an extreme outside in the wagering, stunned the talent when she closed an immense gap to get up in the last sixteenth of the test to get on even terms with the heavily-supported favorite, Charley J. S., and in the drive that followed she was able to draw out until she was a half length to the gcod as she crossed the finishing line. Pellegrino added his second score of the meeting to his credit when he tow-roped a band of good performers in the semi-final race, for which he was favorite, when he reached the end of the mils and one-sixteenth to register a dozen lengths before Star Gold, which, after trailing his field early, passed his tiring rivals through the final stages. He had no trouble in getting into second place four lengths before Thomasine. Dark Simon made a show of the opposition that he met in the five furlongs of the opening event, a test of five furlongs for juveniles. Dark Simon took command at the rise of the barrier and, showing good ability in the soft footing, led for the duration of the trip to register six lengths before the publics choice, Campfire Maid, from R. T. Wilsons stable. Third award went to Brown Thistle, when she drove up in the final sixteenth of the journey to outfinish the tiring Ducissa, of the Seagram Stable. The winner was second choice in the wagering and was ridden in faultless fashion by J. D. Mooney.
