OFF-DAY AT BELMONT PARK7 Creech Sends Coe String Out for Slow Gallops Quarter Deck Works Out Half Mile. NEW YORK. N. Y., March 31. It was an off-day at Belmont Park and no outstanding trials were noted. Short gallops for longer and faster works were indulged in. Benny Creech returned from California and had the W. R Coe stable out for light, exercise. The horses are in good condition and his three stars, Caruso, Black Majesty and Maya, were sent three furlongs in :37. The other members of the stable which were brought out were sent along at the same pace. Creech has a well balanced band of horses this season and they will be ready for the opening at Jamaica. Others in the Coe lot. which were noted on the track, were Cesar and Tripping Toes. The latter has developed into a grand looking filly over the winter. They were timed in :37. Several sets of the two-year-olds were sent three furlongs in :3St. Quarter Deck, the Schwartz candidate for the Kentucky Derby which Max Hirsch has in his care, was worked a half mile in company with Misnot. They went along evenly for the distance in 50 seconds. Hirsch spent the best part of the morning watching his-two-year-olds school at the barrier. Trainer W. Hogan, who has a large public stable in his care, had his charges out early. They were sent along slowly for three furlongs. Red Rag, which was well up on the list of two-year-olds last year, will be reserved exclusively for filly stakes. "I dont caTe to pit her against the colts just yet, later on, yes. Her main objective for the first part of the summer is the Coaching Club Oaks," was trainer Hogans comment about the filly. Hogan in his list of patrons, numbers five women owners. Mrs. R. T. AVilson, Mrs. Curtis, Mrs. Alexandre, Mrs. Blanky and Mrs. Willets. They represent the ownership of thirteen horses. Red Rag races for Mrs. Alexandre. Eighteen horses make up the Hogan string. George Odom, brought out the Marshall Field-R. L. Gerry and S. Parker-Corning strings. They were led onto the training track and given limbering up exercise for longer trials today. Other moves noted in the morning were Nusakan and Eddie Ahearn. They were timed separately for a half mile in 52 seconds . a
