DEPART FROM NEW ORLEANS Horsemen Busy Shipping Charges to Northern and Eastern Race Courses. NEW ORLEANS, La.. March 31. Departures for various northern racing points of horsemen and their charges, from Jefferson Park and the Pair Grounds, was well under way today. Most of the stables that campaigned during the winter season of one hundred and four day, were headed for Aurora, Lexington, Churchill Downs, Bowie, Wheeling, Tulsa and other points. It is not likely that the coming week-end will find many stables remaining here, for plans have been completed for closing, Saturday, of both local tracks for the summer. At the Fair Grounds it is likely that the few horses William Hurley raced here for Col. E. R. Bradley, will be among the last to depart. Hurley plans to ship Beaming Over, Burning Sun and Buttered Toast to Idle Hour Farm, while Brother Rank, Black Cloud, Bad News Bob and Blackberry, purchased by H. C. Hatch, Canadian sportsman, will be vanned to Churchill Downs and turned over to Lloyd Gentry, trainer of the Hatch stable. Sunday was a busy day at the Lexington chutes at Jefferson Park and on Centilly Avenue, adjacent to the Fair Grounds. Most of the horsemen seemed eager to reach their destination and become settled so as to prepare for the spring meetings in which they will participate. It was announced by Col. J. P. Sullivan, chairman of the executive committee of the Louisiana Jockey Club, that work on the resurfacing of the Fair Groiinds track will start next week. Frank M. Kelly, superintendent, will be in charge of this work, remaining here throughout the summer in order to complete all the various improvements planned.
