I ! ; I j j ! : i ; : UNLOAD HEISER-COLE GATE Starting" Device at Exposition Park Inventors Claim Machine Has No Defects. AURORA, 111.. April 5. The Heiser-Cole starting gate was unloaded at Exposition Park yesterday. This gate is similar to the Bahr gate but, instead of having a separate barrier, it has individual barriers in front of every stall, somewhat like the Murray-Carr gate that made its appearance several years ago, and was a pioneer in the field. The inventors of this machine rebuilt it several times in the last two years, but claim that they now have it where no fault can be found by the most discriminating. The stalls have been widened and the heavy superstructure has been entirely eliminated, making it much safer and easier to handle. Among the arrivals yesterday afternoon were the horses of Dr. C. Reed, Dave Boggart, M. Walsh, J. Limbird, A. Rutler, Lewis and Kemp, W. C. Morris, C. Stubbs, J. Mc-Namara, Sam Tracey and Coleman Ray. All the horses unloaded in first class condition. The horses of E. E. Watson were shipped to Aurora, but rerouted to Lexington, Ky. M. AValsh unloaded the much improved Ca-bildo, which ran in the Louisiana Derby just a short time ago. This fellow was purchased out of a sale in the East about a year ago and was knocked down for less than 00. Lewis and Kemp brought in a formidable stable headed by the two good handicap horses Trieze and Jack Haskell, both winners here last fall. The track is drying out fast and Tim Smith had his force of men busy yesterday afternoon. With a continuation of the present weather, he promises to have a fast track by Monday at the latest.
