CONDITION BOOKS ISSUED Pimlico Offering 18,500 in Stake Races With Preakness Heading List. BALTIMORE, Md., April 5 The Maryland Jockey Club has issued the program book of the Pimlico spring meeting from April 28 to May 10. inclusive. Copies have been mailed to horsemen throughout the country and Canada, but the books can also be obtained on application to the secretary, M. L. Daiger, 533 Equitable Building, Baltimore, Md. The sum of 1S,500 is offered in stakes, of which the Dixie Handicap, 5,000, and the Preakness Stakes, S50.000 added, are the most valuable fixtures. In addition the overnight purses range in value from ?1,300 to ?2,000 and, as usual, the Maryland Jockey Club will present ?50 to the trainer of the winner of each race. There will be a feature every day, with two stake races set for decision on May 3, when the Green Spring "Valley Steeplechase and Pimlico Oaks will be the double attraction. A steeplechase will be run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, conditions permitting, with the Billy Barton Steeplechase, for hunters, gentlemen riders, three miles, one of the most popular and coveted amateur cross country events of the season, scheduled for Thursday, May 1. The first race each day will be run at 2 :30 p. m., and among the new overnight race3 are the Hobkirks Hill and the Wewajupe, which are apt to make the nomenclature fans sit up and take notice. The book contains a complete list of entries for the stakes, together with the rules of the Maryland Racing Commission, especially in regard to claiming races, scale of weights for flat and steeplechases, regulations for the meeting and a mass of valuable information to owners, trainers and jockeys.
