SHIPMENTS ARE FALLING OFF Few Horses Remain at New Orleans Resurfacing of Fair Grounds Begins April 15. NEW ORLEANS, La., April 5. Two horses changed hands at the Fair Grounds Saturday when P. E. Courtin, acting for Payne and West, disposed of Last Flight and Nella W. by private purchase to A. M. Shod, who intends to campaign them at Tulsa. The horses of W. J. Marlman and P. H. Jones held over for several days were shipped to Beulah Park. J. G. Demarest, New Orleans turfman, departed via motor for Wheeling, where his stable will be campaigned until the opening of Fairmount Park, J. P. Manheimer, Chicago turfman, will add to the small stable he campaigned here during the past winten Manheimer plans to attend the Madden sale at Fairmount Park in May to purchase some new stock. Work of resurfacing the Fair Grounds racing strip, according to Frank Kelly, track superintendent, will begin May 15 and 3,000 yards of soil will be added. Robert Eddy, Jr., and Placide Frigerio, manager and track superintendent, respectively, at Fairmount Park, will depart via motor next Wednesday for that point.
