WHEELING INAUGURAL -Golden Jubilee Meeting at West Virginia Course. ,000 Inaugural Purse Feature of First Days Program Probable Field of Twelve. "WHEELING, "W. Va., April 8. An auspicious opening tomorrow for .the Golden Jubilee meeting of the Wheeling Driving Club, at the Wheeling Island course, is anticipated. Only a continued siege of the present bad weather will hurt what to all appearances will be the greatest gathering of race fans to ever attend an inaugural at the historic old track. There are 510 horses stabled at the Wheeling course, while the list of riders in the jockey colony approximates some sixty pigskin artists. By far the most pretentious gathering of horsemen and horses ever, to assemble here are now making things interesting at the island course. The Golden Jubilee meeting is worthy of the men who first inaugurated the sport here. With the ,000 Inaugural Purse, opening day feature of the meeting, to be decided tomorrow, the program of races for the opening day of the sport here is an attractive one. The Inaugural Purse will be decided over six furlongs and is for three-year-olds and over. It has attracted a dozen of the best handicap horses in training on the island. Such stars of the turf as San Carlos, winner of two handicaps in Cuba ; Margaret Cal, four-time winner on the island ; the Seagram Stables sprinter Tetra Glass; the veteran Stampdale; H. C. Rumages Lactarius and Old Kickapoo, are among those likely to parade to the post in the big race. Several of the leading candidates for the 5,000 Golden Jubilee Stakes are probable starters. By Product, winner of the rich New Orleans Handicap, is one. She worked well yesterday morning and this should put her on edge for the big race. Wacket is fit and ready. The same applies to Woody Long. A. J. Bedell is .confident his Sporting Blood colt is ready for a winning effort if he nins to his workouts. Woody Long showed fine speed in Cuba. Arrivals continued yesterday. The Mull-rick Stable was among these. In the string were Vladimir, The Runt and Clarifier. H. Haymaker came in with seven from Bowie. They were Sun Kin, The Doctor, Referendum, Reigh Shot, Ebuford, Fire Rock and Mad Mullah. J. F. Harris came along with Transfer and Racing Star. H. W. Fry brought Begin Over and Lassa. Tomorrow will see the new stall gate in the five-eighths chute in use for the first time. There are two five-eighths of a mile races scheduled.
