The possibility of Mose Lowenstein shipping Misstep to Fairmount added another hope to racing secretary Reeders list of good horses for his eleven stakes during the forty-nine-day meeting beginning May 10. Lowenstein wired secretary Reeder asking for stable room and, although the stalls are at a premium, he is making room for the Lowenstein shipment. Misstep is eligible for six of the eleven stakes and other good ones also eligible for them are Brown Wisdom and My Dandy, already on the scene : Inception, Philadelphia Handicap winner; Thistle Fyrn, winner of the Camden ; Bocaratone, W. J. Potters consistent racer; J. Wilsons Flag Bearer and several crack three-year-olds which are carded to start in the Fairmount Derby May 24. General manager Robert S. Eddy Jr., returned today from a visit to see his sons, who are attending the Culver Military Academy in Culver, Ind. Horses which arrived in the shipment of Mrs. L. M. Holmes included the following racers : My Toots, Helen F., Big John, Bright Outlook, Noels First, Clear Moon, Jim Shanahan, Red Man, Macfogle, Guys Image, Braggadocio, Rocky Way, Old Bill, Arabian. Ali Baba, Jim Bridger, Hec, Portal and Honest Tom. They came from Jefferson Park. L. W. Johnson, also from Jefferson Park, unloaded the following : Houston, Cockrill, Classy, Lansquenet, Mosque and Flora Levy. A light rain fell Sunday, which dampened the track, but not enough to please track superintendent Frigerio, who has completed work on the oval and would appreciate a hard rain before the opening. Electricians began tuning up the loud speaker, which was installed last fall by the new management and which proved a distinct hit. AVork has been completed on the permanent stall gate at the six-furlong chute, which is to be used in conjunction with two portable AVaite gates. Horsemen will familiarize their charges with the starting gates by breaking them out of this chute in morning works. Charles Graffagnini wired from Maryland to say that he would arrive here next Sunday with his stable of racers, which is headed by Arcturus and also includes a Fairmount Derby candidate, AVhileaway. Vic Gallo arrived from New Orleans today but ran into bad luck when he learned that one of his charges, Overdraft, had died from colic. AArord was received from the Audley Farm that they would ship thirty racers here following the running of the Kentucky Derby, May 17 one week following the opening of the local track. Usually this time of the year high water comes in this section. Last year it inundated part of the auto highway. There is no high water this year and none is expected. Patrons will not be so inconvenienced. The large flower beds in the infield have been completed and redressed and the large floral letters of "Haste," first Fairmount Derby winner, and "Karl Eitel," most recent, form an attractive and picturesque setting for the tract immediately in front of the stewards pagoda.
