FAST KINGS PLATE WORK Whale Oil Displays Excellent ExcellentSpeed Speed in Training Gallop Gallopfor for Canadian Feature TORONTO Ont May C Few spectators witnessed the best Kings Plate trial to dale for it was accomplished lato Monday morning by the Thorncliffc dependance Whale Oil In company with Varsity and Airport and ridden by the good judge of pace jockey N Foden the big son of Oil Man worked one mile in 1 4C galloping the plate distance of one mile and a fur ¬ long in 200 200Varsity Varsity ridden by Tommy Aimers went right along with Whale Oil for a mile and Airport with Henry Lefebvre up was close up for the first six furlongs which the trio accomplished in 1 18V but Whale Oils superiority was quite apparent he be ¬ ing three lengths clear of Varsity at the end of the one mile and a furlong and gal ¬ loping freely freelyIt It will be interesting to see if Freethinker can improve the work the first time he is sent the distance at Woodbine He is ex ¬ pected with the others of the Seagram string from the farm today todayNaturally Naturally chief interest centered in the moves of plate candidates and the T M Glassco candidate Pat Gaiety full brother to Mr Gaiety went one mile in 1 4S In company with Honest Boy the stables other plate candidate Pat Gaiety ran six furlongs in a little over 118 and galloped out the mile in the above mentioned time well within himself Norman Scotty Swanson who is training this string was on Pat Gaiety and one of Mr Giddings exercise boys rode Hon ¬ est Boy The latter will not likely be a starter on plate day but if Pat Gaiety keeps on training as well as he is doing now he will not only be a starter but a serious factor in the race raceThe The fastest Avork of the morning was con ¬ tributed by the Mount Royal Stables Marine one mile in 1 42 This fouryearold son of Man o War worked seconds faster than any other horse on the track Sunday morn ¬ ing and appears ready to hold his own against tlie best conditioned racers from Maryland and other points pointsMr Mr Gaiety with his bobbed tail was scarcely recognizable to many of the spec ¬ tators A good move of threequarters in 116 in company with Daisy Fair made them sit up and take notice however
