MINUS FEATURE RACE Outstanding Attraction Lacking on Exposition Park Card Fifth Race Results in Close Finish With Faddy Scoring in Final Strides AURORA 111 May C For the first day during the current meeting the Exposition ExpositionPark Park program lacked a feature race All races with the exception of the twoyear old maiden race were of the claiming va ¬ riety today and the racing while fairly good despite the poor condition of the track was not as stirring as on the preceding days Most of the winners scored by handy mar ¬ gins and several led all the way wayOne One of the most interesting races of the afternoon came with the running of the fifth race Faddy which was well backed was the winner and was forced to come from behind to cut down the lead of the early pacemakers He managed to get up in time to score by a half length while whileDontados Dontados nosed out Paul Revere in the strug ¬ gle for second place placeA A field of eleven started over the one mile and a sixteenth distance and Wentz a field horse acted as pacemaker He led ledby by a good margin down the back stretch and turned for home with a good lead Straightened out for the final drive there was a general closing up and at midstretch Wentz relinquished the lead to Paul Revere The latter was not destined to stay in the van long hovever as Faddy came on the outside with a rush that would not be de ¬ nied and took command in the last ten yards yardsHEAVY HEAVY SHOWERS SHOWERSA A heavy rain visited this section at noon today and the track which had dried out outafter after yesterdays downpour was made heavy once more The weather was sultry but the crowd that attended came up to the theexpectations expectations of the management Seven races were decided and the fields were large in several of the contests contestsBeekeeper Beekeeper was given a good ride to cap ¬ ture the first race Jockey Colvin took numerous chances to save ground with the gelding and getting through an opening on the stretch turn outfinished Keiser on Solus The latter raced well and barely missed win ¬ ning BirdieWrack finished in third place Eleven horses started and the winner paid 13 26 The track was heavy for the running of the initial race but was drying out rap ¬ idly Miss Blanche Watson added another vic ¬ tory to her list of successes when Prickly Heat annexed the second race The winner ruled as favorite and staged a sensational finish to score Peter Ruff acted as pace ¬ maker and approaching the stretch was galloping along six lengths to the good but Prickly Heat came with a rush under jockey Coopers urging in the last furlong and gain ¬ ing rapidly passed the Lewis Kemp horse near the end to win going away Peter Ruff lasted to save second place while Saddle Skirts which was practically left at the post finished third thirdDELAYS DELAYS START After delaying the start for many min ¬ utes due to his bad post behavior Down ¬ pour finally began well and outran the oth ¬ ers all the way in the third race He scored by eight lengths from Wigrose while the latter was far in front of the others at the finish Gibbys Lillian was third Ten twoyearolds entered the stall gate and there was a last minute rush to the certificate machine by the supporters of Caracalla This son of Golden Broom was considered to be best by his backers and they wagered with confidence but Caracalla finished last He did not appear to like the going and was at ho time dangerous dangerousThe The public centered on the right horse in the fourth race when they backed Sir John K into favoritism The sixyearold gelding never left the result in doubt and led most of the way to have a big margin at the finish The real battle was between Roodles and High Player for second place and the for ¬ mer was successful Sir John K was ridden by jockey J W Prye who is one of the most likely looking prospects riding at the meet ¬ ing Jockey J Ketry who rode Master Ace in the race was wearing colors for the first lime in his career He is under contract to Clyde Freeman FreemanC C B Irwin won another purge when Fetch ¬ ing under a good ride by jockey Willie Moran scored in the sixth race Mary McClain acted as pacemaker in the race with Fetching close up The latter took command when ready to win by a half length Mary McClain came again and was a fast finishing second while Alloy finished third thirdJockey Jockey Ralph Baltimore has signed to ride the horses of Lewis Kemp Baltimore can do 10G pounds and will do all the riding for his new employer for the remainder of the Aurora meeting
