THISTLE DOWN TO REOPEN Begins 2 8 Day Meeting May 28 28With With Joseph A Murphy in inComplete Complete Charge CLEVELAND Ohio May 6 The Thistld Down Jockey Club made formal announce ¬ ment this morning that Thistle Down Cleve ¬ lands fine track would open its gates to the public Wednesday May 28 for twenty eight days of highclass running races The management also announced that judge Jo ¬ seph A Murphy who was brought here last week in an advisory capacity has been pre ¬ vailed upon to accept the office of director of racing for the meeting meetingJudge Judge Murphy who is manager of tha Hawthorne track at Chicago has just re ¬ turned from the Pacific coast where he has been on invitation of the Pacific Coast Breed ¬ ers Association and where he conducted a brilliant revival of racing at Tanforan track near San Francisco He leaves tomorrow for Pimlico to witness the running of the Preak ness and present Thistle Downs advantages to the eastern breeders and horsemen horsemenThe The Thistle Down Jockey Club will offer a number of large stakes and purses to attract the better class of horses As there will be no racing in Maryland or Kentucky during this meeting many highclass horses will be secured from these points so that Cleveland will be assured of the highest class thoroughbred racing racingThe The officials for the meeting will be ses lected from the best available men in vari ous sections of the country whose names will carry a guarantee that the racing will be conducted in a highclass manner Executive offices of the Thistle Down Jockey Club have been opened at 20G Hollenden Hotel
