MORSUN WINS EASILY Defeats Klingstone by Six Lengths in Homewood Feature Favorites Fare Well During Day Dayat at Washington Park Black BlackFlyer Flyer and Shift Score HOMEWOOD 111 May 27 Morsun sprinting champion of the Aurora meeting demonstrated that a change in race courses made little difference to him galloping home an easy winner in the Flossmoor Club Han ¬ dicap todays main attraction at Washing ¬ ton Park He won by six lengths from River Forest one of the outsiders while Klingstone another longpriced starter fin ¬ ished in third place placeMorsun Morsun which now races in the colors of Lewis Kemp of Kansas City was installed the favorite with the S Peabody gelding Tombereau the second choice Starter Mor rissey caught them in line after a long delay due mostly to the fractious actions of Gam ¬ bol Tombereau was the first to show and quickly opened up a twolengths lead while Morsun which had drawn clear of the oth ¬ ers was running in second place They raced in that order to the stretch and as they made the turn Morsun cut his rivals ad ¬ vantage down to one length Tombereau which had carried the others along at a fast pace had little left as Morsun drew along ¬ side and the Lewis Kemp racer had little difficulty in taking command Once in front he continued to increase his lead and jockey Baltimore had him under restraint at the finish finishTombereau Tombereau in the meantime was quitting badly and River Forest and Klingstone caught him in the last fifty yards Had the race been a trifle farther the tiring Gambol would also have beaten the Pea body horse Big Star carried the colors of E R Bradley in the race but was never a dangerous factor factorTHREATENING THREATENING WEATHER WEATHERDark Dark clouds hung overhead as the days racing began and rain fell in a drizzle during the first two races but the fans were pleasantly surprised when the sun broke through as the starters in the fifth race were going to the post The track was a trifle slow most of the day but when the rain had abated continued to improve and Morsun completed the six furlongs in the feature in the good time of 112 112Black Black Flyar a disappointment on opening day came back in this afternoons first race to make good for his supporters He won the threequarters dash with ease from a small field Hy Schneider finished second and the ancient Gibbons was third The latter and Hy Schneider cut out the early running with Black Flyer in fourth position and clinging to the rail Approaching the stretch turn the ultimate winner passed Hy Schneider and drew up to Gibbons and after carrying the latter out on the final turn drew into a safe lead which brought him victory Gibbons tired in the last furl iig Black Flyer was the favorite and paid 444 He was ridden by jockey R Crees CreesShift Shift was the second straight favorite to win Ridden by jockey Keiser he was close up in the early stages and came gamely in the stretch to catch the tiring early lead ¬ ers and win in handy fashion Christie Flanagan and Favorit II which set the early pace finished second and third re ¬ spectively It was practically a threehorse race all the way and there was little doubt as to the winners superiority superiorityCHERRY CHERRY 3IAY FAILURE FAILUREThe The Grabner entry Grey Kitty and Our Pet finished first and third respectively in the third race a five furlongs contest for maiden fillies They were split by Sugarland which raced to second place while the short priced favorite Cherry May was never in the race and finished far back A field of eight raced for the purse and the Grabner horses which had drawn the two inner posi ¬ tions began quickly and were several lengths in advance of the others in the first quarter Our Pet was setting the pace with Grey Kitty ready to move to the front at any time Approaching the stretch turn jockey Parma lee on the latter deemed it time to move to the fore with his mount and Grey Kitty once in command opened up a long lead Our Pet tired in the stretch but her stable male had her speed in reserve and raced to the finish almost three lengths in front of Sugarland SugarlandFillies Fillies and mares threeyearolds and over were asked to race one mile and seventy yards in the fourth race and Peach Rose a fouryearold daughter of Golden Guinea was the winner Easter finished second a short distance before Otilla Six horses raced and Irene T the favorite failed to finish in the money moneyIn In the first race Monday Supreme Sweet the winner was claimed by R Selden for
