ARLINGTON STAKES CLOSE Entries for 70000 Classic and andOther Other Rich Turf Prizes PrizesDue Due Today Nominations for the Arlington Classic as well as various other of the stakes of the Arlington Park Jockey Club are to close Wednesday The meeting at the mammoth Chicago course is to continue from June 30 until August 2 and the list of stakes for the thirty days of sport is a particularly lib ¬ eral and attractive one oneThe The Classic run for the first time last year and won by Edward R Bradleys Blue Larkspur has an added money value of 70000 and it is naturally the richest of the various awards But there is the Arling ¬ ton Handicap of a mile and a quarter for threeyearolds and upward to which 35000 is added The Stars and Stripes Handicap at a mile and a furlong is of 20000 added value and there are two prizes of 15000 each one for the threeyearold fillies the Arlington Oaks and the other the Post and Paddock for the juveniles and over the six furlongs distance In addition to these there are two of the prizes to which 7500 is added while still three others are of 5000 added each eachAll All of this does not take into account the Arlington Cup of 25000 which is to be closed June 14 at a date when there is a much better chance to engage the best horses of the moment Then there will be 30000 for the steeplechase races the first to be run in Chicago in many years yearsAltogether Altogether the Arlington Park Jockey Club is setting a new pace in prize generosity This is right along the line that was an ¬ nounced as the policy of the sportsmen who took over the big course last year Every promise has been kept and from the beginning there lias been no deviation from the plan of seeing to it that there should be no racing for profit
